Stereoplasm: Cats Out of the Bag Collection Review

Stereoplasm released a cats themed collection - which I know many people love. I - unfortunately - realized the extent of my allergies to cats the first time I went to a cat cafe, and the cute lil fur babies leave my eyes and nose running. Happily enough, these Stereoplasm cuties are very much not setting off my allergies and I can huff them all day long without any fear!

Thank you again to Meaghan at Stereoplasm for sending me these - if you'd like to pick these kittens up you can check out Stereoplasm, they typically offer unlisted scents from past collections for purchase as 7.5mL rollerballs but Stereoplasm has just recently revamped their website and took out some old favorites in a few sizes if you wanted to try those out!

Without further ado, here are the reviews.

Soft Cat: Sunday morning biscuits, sticky marshmallow fluff, warm vanilla toe beans and soft mews under piles of sun-dried cashmere

This is very similar to Scaredy Cat with the powdery marshmallow note and Toasted Matchimellow from the Chiptune collection, with more of the sweet dustiness of marhsmallow powder, and sweet vanilla cut with a touch of citrus. The opening has a touch of cotton candy sweetness, but it dries to a very soft powdery marshmallow scent with a nutty biscuit note at the end. Soft Cat really has a dryness to it for me, but it's a really lovely sweet scent.

Munchie Cat: Freshly baked pot cookies with baked kettle chips, raspberry pie filling and a tall glass of chocolate milk.

Exactly what's written on the tin - a scent capturing the sweet warmth of chocolate chip cookies and milk, spiked with something musty and musky. I like this as a gourmand - it's not quite a straight dessert scent because it has something a little extra, and I think that's what sets it apart from other chocolate scents. Although I've never had a freshly baked pot cookie so I can't really comment on that - here are some reviews that attest to the more herbal qualities of this scent.

Snoozy Cat: Soft cotton candy purrs of sweet baby's breath, french lavender, dreamy garden thyme and a hint of chamomile.

This is definitely one of the scents that almost flew under the radar for me, but someone brought my attention to it and I am glad for it because it's such a gorgeous scent. It's soft and sweet like the name suggests - with a citrusy sweet lemon glaze drizzled on puffs of cotton candy, a sprig of lavender and thyme and a glass of chamomile lemonade. It's much less floral than the notes suggest, and the sweetness isn't cloying like Mayflower Fleece from the Chiptune collection - it's just the right amount. I love the lightness of the citrus, it reminds me of an upscale fancy lemonade, like hot summer nights on the balcony of a chic bar, and pale yellow scarves. Probably my favorite of the collection.

Stretchy Cat: Soothing green tea garnished with fresh lemon, mint and tangerine peel served with a big bowl of bergamot-zest sorbet.

This is a summer scent - opening up with the most warmed up gorgeous hit of mint that just clears your air ways, and fading into iced lemon tea. It has this lovely refreshing citrusy quality, the mint peeks in and out of the scent, and reminds me a little bit of a lemon moroccan mint tea. It's just the right amount of sweet, but the minty citrus is just a gorgeous pairing.

Ballroom Cat: Hot pink organza, two glasses of french 75, fuchsia, stiletto squeezed grapefruit while safely tucked away in designer leather.

This definitely is one of those scents with dualities - it'll have one scent in the top note, and morph into something else after a bit of wear. On opening, this is deliciously fruity, a citrus melange of grapefruit, lemon and orange, but after dry down, theres a more musky skin, leather note underneath it, with the whiff of designer cologne simmering underneath it. Unfortunately, unlike Donatella Versace I like my fruit without sweaty men in leather.

Orchard Cat: A basket of Braeburn apples, sea-salted caramel, crushed cloves and a cinnamon stick in hot mulled cider.

Exactly what it says - Freshly cut tart green apples, dipped in salted caramel. On my skin, I tend to amp what I call 'the festive spice' note, and this scent with the spiced cider and the clove ends up leaning towards more of a savoury allspice, thyme and brine scent, far more bitter than the opening is - so your milage may vary with this one! This scent reminds me a lot of Madchenland (Poesie), and the apple notes are very similar - so if you liked that one you may enjoy this,

Crunchy Cat: Crisp mountain air, douglas fir needles, chewed catberry branches and clumsy pinecones chased around the thick forest floor.

Pine, mountain trees and forests. This reminds me of car scents that say 'forest floor' amongst all the pine. On opening, this reminds me a lot of Starry-Eyed Sagittarius - it has slightly tart and acidic touches of citrus here, but this is far darker and dense with a woody base and a salty edge to the leaves and a touch of skin musk. This really smells like being trapped in a dark, thick forest, it's impressively heavy for a scent.

Boho Cat: Book-pressed roses, freshly picked rosemary, dusty charcoal, linseed twine and soft jasmine incense.

Opening with a lovely blossoming of sweet rose, this scent brings to mind the gorgeous elegance of Gion (Fantome) with the sweet plum blossoms and rose scented makeup powder - although this is not quite as powdery and dry, and a little more green and grassy. On dry down, the rose remains the dominant note, although more of the darker grit of the charcoal and bitter bite of linseed peek through a little more, with a touch of aromatic crushed rosemary.  This is perfect for tweed jackets, vintage bookshops and dusty leather couches.

Yelling Cat: Squashed petunia petals, deep amber eyes, furry paws deeply dug into warm dirt and a long, satisfying howl at the midday sun.

Another addition to the atmospherics in this collection. This is an experimental scent for people who love real atmospherics (definitely not for the weak of heart!). On my skin, this smells like petrichor and spades of wet dirt, with wet cat fur on crushed green stems. It's quite a prickly and heavy scent, and it reminds me a lot of Wild Mayweed from the Chiptune collection, with all the wet soil.
