Nivea: Sun Zero Feeling UV Lotion Sunscreen Review

I've previously spoken about my love for the Nivea Super Water Gel sunscreen, and was definitely super excited to see another sunscreen from Nivea, this time the Sun Zero Feeling UV Lotion. As the original Super Water Gel is the benchmark for sunscreens for me, I definitely hoped that this would be just as good. If you want all the good information to do with chemical formulations of sunscreens and why it's good and how much to apply, I've also covered that in the previous review, but be sure to check out labmuffin and all her information about sunscreens for a PhD level breakdown of components.

Similar to the Super Water Gel, this is an organic/chemical sunscreen. Here is a list of the ingredients:

Water, ethanol, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, talc, dimethicone, isononyl isononanoate, polymethylsilsesquioxane, hexyl diethylaminohydroxybenzoylbenzoate, bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyltriazine, diphenylsiloxyphenyltrimethicone, ethylhexyltriazone, water Degraded hyaluronic acid, polysorbate 20, (acryloyldimethyltaurine ammonium , VP) copolymer, alkyl (C30-45) methicone, olefin (C30-45), citric acid, sodium citrate, methylparaben, BH

Here is a description of the product and how to use it:

  • It spreads like water and blends in quickly.
  • For smooth skin like bare skin. Contains smooth powder.
  • It fits in quickly, so you can make up and change clothes immediately.
  • It is not sticky and there is no white residue.
  • Protects bare skin from dry damage caused by UV rays.
  • Moisturizing ingredient Penetration type hyaluronic acid combination.
  • Penetrates into the stratum corneum

How to use:

  • Since it contains powder, shake it well before use.
  • Spread it little by little on your skin evenly.
  • Be careful not to get the liquid directly on your clothes, and wait until it dries before putting on your clothes.
  • If the amount is small, it will be difficult to obtain the sunscreen effect.
  • Apply a sufficient amount and reapply frequently to get the effect.
  • Reapply after sweating or wiping with a towel.
  • When removing, wash thoroughly with your usual soap, face wash, and whole body cleanser.

My thoughts:

In comparison to the Super Water Gel - which is more of a slightly viscous gel, Zero Feeling is far runnier, and is more like a slippy liquid consistency. You have to shake the bottle before use - as will separate inside the bottle. Although, I enjoy shaking the bottle of this one, it feels like shaking a water bottle.

As shown in the picture, even when I tried to snap a picture, it moves quickly because it is very runny. However, it blends out incredibly easily and is worked pretty easily into the skin. On me, I don't really get an obvious white cast either, and it isn't very sticky at all (which is great). You can also layer this pretty easily - so it makes application and reapplication much easier (especially when you need that 2mg per centimetre of skin).

I did feel that this was easier to spread and apply over large areas of the body, although due to the lightness of this formula, it's not waterproof and needs to applied relatively frequently as well. Although it is possible to use this as a makeup base, I didn't really like the feeling it gave me - it still felt like there was a thin film on my face (which I didn't have with Super Water Gel).

Overall, I found this a good addition to the Super Water Gel, but it was far from a good alternative for the lightweight gel like consistency.

Where you can buy this:

According to Ratzilla Cosme , this product has actually been discontinued as of February 2021. However, you can still purchase this from some places or websites (such as YesStyle) if you'd like to try it.
