Siren Song Elixirs: Dangerous Women Collection (Harlot, Fille de Joie, Lolita)

I bought the Dangerous Women collection from SSE, which is described on the site as such:

There were many names given to women in the past, who by need or desire, expressed their sexuality in ancient professions or illicit affairs. Once used as labels to define a woman’s sexuality, its time to reclaim the labels given to women because their sexuality was deemed “dangerous” and a thing to be feared.
The "Dangerous Women" collection is dedicated to a line of decadent gourmand and floral gourmand fragrances that smell good enough to eat.

This review will cover Harlot, Fill de Joie and Lolita, but this is a list of the whole collection, and I've bolded the scents I bought.

Harlot: Banana flambé, Coconut rum, Banana liqueur, Caramel, Amaretto

Wet: All banana, it reminds me of Vintner's Reserve's Banana Pudding, all sweetened and ripe with a dash of whipped cream.

Dried down: While the beginning of this scent is all banana with just a hint of caramel and coconut, on my skin it develops into the warmed baked banana, with a good heap of sautéed and spiced aromas similar to Bollocks (Nui Cobalt). The amaretto is mostly lost in the heavier coconut rum, caramel and banana notes - Baked banana remains as a strong anchor for the scent, while the cane sugar like sweetness of the coconut rum, and the caramel are decadent, warmed sauces for the dessert.
The spice pulls a little too strong, the note is what I've dubbed the 'festive spice', it's not quite cinnamon, clove or cardamom, it's more of an indistinct note which I don't personally enjoy as much, but with lighter application, the spice is more subtle.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves a spiced banana. If you like Nui Cobalt's Bollocks, this is like the sweeter, more cheerful sibling.

Fill de Joie: White peach, Hibiscus, Tahitian vanilla, Marshmallow cream, Sugar, Shortbread

Wet: A well mixed blend of peach and hibiscus, the sweetness almost verges on frangipani territory for me.

Dried down: As I've mentioned before, SSE's blends are very shifty, and these blends tend to lean into a good balance of the gourmand and the floral aspects. Unlike Lolita, which starts gourmand and ends up floral, while the juicy, sweet peach is a dominant note, like slices of freshly sliced peach, the hibiscus sticks close to the peach - but smells a lot more similar to frangipani. I personally quite like frangipani out of all the white florals, but the mixture of peach and frangipani note is a really well balanced blend of fruits and florals. There isn't much of the buttery shortbread, or marshmallowy sweetness, but the sugar is definitely a decadent clear base, but leans a bit too soapy on my skin, as do most of SSE's florals.
This scent is comparatively quite linear, with the floral quite evident even when wet.
For me, I don't see myself wearing this very often so this is going in the swap pile.

Perfect for: Fruit/Florals, with an emphasis on floral. Frangipani enthusiasts might like this slight fruity twist on the typical white floral notes.

Lolita: Orange creamsicle, Sweet cream, Vanilla bean, Caramel, Black Jasmine

Wet: Have you ever smelt the creamsicle scent from Sugarpill? It's my first introduction to the idea of creamsicle and I'm pretty much obsessed with the scent, having hunted high and low for anything that smelt as close to the scent from the liquid lipstick as possible, and this is spot on that scent.

Dried down: All my DREAMS...icles have been dashed. What started as a beautiful sweet vanilla mixed with creamsicle scent has turned into a floral heavy. While my white floral expert Jasmine has no idea what black jasmine is, or what it's supposed to be, SSE's Black jasmine is very different from the clean, sweetness of white floral jasmine. To me, this is very heavily, almost wisteria like jasmine. The more this wears, the more the black jasmine, so hidden at the beginning, becomes a loud, blaring burst of floral, bordering on soapy territory. This scent is all sharp edges and cutting cleanliness.
For me, the floral really just gives this the worst of both worlds - I like gourmands and I can enjoy florals alone, but the combination of both is too sweet and too sharp for me, it's not quite the soft edible gourmands, neither it is the light, reassuring background notes of typical white florals.

That said, I ordered myself a custom of this without the black jasmine, because I really love this rendition of "creamsicle" - closest to the ideal creamsicle scent for me.

Perfect for: Anyone who loves creamsicle, but also darker, fuller bodied notes of black jasmine. If you like blends of florals and gourmands, these are wonderful.

Disclaimer: I am not sponsored or affiliated with this brand, and all opinions are my own.

About the brand:

You can find them on their website (which offers slightly reduced prices) or on their Etsy shop, and they have a variety of fragrances inspired by different stories and characters (such as Mass Effect, the Witcher, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things).

Siren Songs offers perfumes, in perfume oil and EDP form, with a pretty extensive catalogue, which aims to be multi-layered, so you will have a scent adventure over the wear of the perfume. They also now offer basic fragrances, like layering notes, or basic blocks like vanilla, marshmallow, dragons blood, which you can use in whatever way you see fit. All the perfumes are also cruelty-free and vegan, and tested on sensitive skin.

If you'd like a custom: click on this link because it's not yet linked in the sidebar.

They also offer coconut wax candles on their site, although their hair lustres and other special items aren't regularly on sale.

The additional perk about the brand is that the owner is a migraine sufferer, and claims to makes fragrances that do not form headaches and are not too cloying.

Pricing:

All prices below will be in USD.
As I mentioned below, the difference in pricing between Etsy and their official shop is very slight (usually less than a dollar) and I will talk about the pricing on the official site as that's where I processed most of my orders.

Keep in mind, Etsy does offer buyers protection, and will allow Paypal transactions, whereas SSE's official shop only accepts cards, so if you prefer to use Paypal, you may want to buy from Etsy instead.

The prices for the 1mL sample packs are grouped in certain numbers (3, 5, 8, 10, 15), so you can't really get, 2 or 4 samples. You can work your way around 6, by getting two packs of the 3 vials, which racks up to $20, whereas you can get 8 samples for $24.

How much it will be per mL:

Sample sets:

3 for 10 = 3.3
5 for 15 = 3
8 for 24 = 3
10 for 30 = 3
15 for 45 = 3
20 for 60 = 3
25 for 75 = 3
30 for 90 = 3
35 for 100 = 2.85

For perfume oils:

5ml for 12.95 = 2.59
10ml for 18.95 = 1.89

For EDPs:

1/2oz (roughly 15ml) for 20.95 = 1.39
2oz (roughly 60ml) for 49.95 = 0.85

Edit: SSE has decided to put their prices up due to a range of reasons, and so I will post the updated price breakdown. Sample sets and candle prices have remain unchanged.

For perfume oils:

5ml for 14.95 = 3
10ml for 19.95 = 2

For EDPs:

1/2oz (roughly 15ml) for 24.95 = 1.65
2oz (roughly 60ml) for 49.95 = 0.85

Shipping:

The TAT for the shop is around 3-7 business days, which is pretty average.

For international shipping, on Etsy it's $14.50, but on the website it is slightly cheaper at $13.54.

I haven't had any problems with customs, and it arrived safely in two weeks.
