Lucky #9: Rose's RBF Review

For those who haven't heard of this brand before, Lucky #9 is an indie brand which is run by the team over at Ajevie. The brand is their 'in house' brand, and also includes scents from the former Mr Hex house which included some old Hexennacht blends and also some dupes of other popular scents. I've always happily used Ajevie for their lovely decant/add on services as it's a great way to get started with a few different brands, and the bonus is they offer international shipping! While Lucky #9 had a more limited catalogue a while back, they're now doing more collections and releasing more items, so while they have perfume oil, they also offer aura sprays, whipped and normal soap, body oil, scent sticks and body cream. If you're interested, you can pick these up from their website, or from Ajevie

I will also be posting some more thoughts on the Lucky #9 products later, so if you're interested you can click on the Lucky #9 tag to see more reviews! I also wanted to say a grateful thank you to the team at Lucky #9 for sending this through as a press sample in exchange for reviews!

Rose's RBF: Fresh cut roses tart'ed up with grapefruit, blackberries, and raspberries with extra brambles

On opening, this is a surprisingly refreshing scent - the description here is completely accurate, it's very tart, although well balanced with the sweetness. For me, while the sweet raspberry puree is here, I also get hints of rhubarb, lime syrup, crushed blackberries and a hint of mint here as well, and it has a real hidden complexity to it despite the simplicity of the notes listed. I love sour and tart notes, but I don't find it a lot in blends, so it's a really lovely quality to see here. I actually almost find this scent mouthwatering. After dry down I do find that this turns a little sweeter, but YMMV as my skin tends to pull sweetness out from everything, balancing that sweet raspberry sweetness with a green rose note. At certain points, the sweetness in this also reminds me a little bit of Prevaricating (NCD) with its fruity sugar, although that one is far more sugared lychee, whereas this is a little more of a fancy raspberry soda paired with the very slightest hint of candied rose. I also found that this reminded me a bit of Squid's Ink (NAVA), especially during the latter half of wear with its little complexities and nuances of the rose paired with the candied berry syrups. While this does get a little simpler and more linear with time, but I can't deny that I'm a bit of a sucker for fruity florals like this.

I also found that this blend had quite a lot of projection and throw for an oil - the concentration of scent here was a little louder than I'm usually accustomed to from an oil. It also wore around 4-5 hours on me with a light application.
