Fernanda: Lychee Review

For summer this year, Fernanda came out with lychee again this year! This year, they've added 'upcycled lychee fruit extra' from lychees harvested at the Yamashita Farm in Miyazaki, in accordance to the brand's upcycling/sustainability branding by using discarded items as an ingredient in their fragrance.

As previously outlined in my Fernanda review, the brand comes out with a good chunk of different items, and the Lychee release included both the EDP, body spray, hand cream and moist body gelato (it's sort of like a body cream but with a gel like consistency). The picture below is of the external shop designs, but the main shop release included the handcream, an EDP, body spray, whipped hand and body cream, sugar scrub (in a jar) and body soap (in a pump bottle).

I did actually also eat some lychees (as it's lychee season around summer) this year, and they were fantastically sweet. I love lychees! It's also a pretty underused accord in most NA indie brands, and most of them struggle to capture it just right. For me, there's something just so summery to me about the sweet, juicy, refreshing sweetness of lychee. For those who don't know what lychee tastes/smells like, it has a chewy/soft and juicy flesh around a pit, sort of if a grape had more chewiness. The taste is usually sweet, a little bit like fruity rose water, but if they're not too ripe, they're usually quite mild.

Lychee - Fruity chamomile based on bursting fresh lychee. A juicy, soft and sweet scent layered with fresh and slightly sweet muscat grapes.

Fernanda does a great job with replicating and capturing the essence of lychee here for me - it's definitely sweet and refreshing in all the right ways, and the addition of the sweet muscat grapes here also adds to the unique watery sweetness of both fruits. However, in the body spray formula, it has a slight sweet musky tinge at the end of the wear, which I wasn't as much of a fan of. I personally preferred Lychee in hand cream form this time, but the EDP and body spray definitely captured the lychee accord perfectly.
