Visee: Lash Volume Mania Review

I like writing reviews about products that I've finished using up, mostly because it shows that you've actually used the product and used it as much as possible - especially when a lot of beauty gurus now usually do first impressions, and then never tend to finish it.
I think while this is inevitable when you get more popular, that it becomes basically impossible to regularly try and use something up with the amount of new releases that come out every single week, but that's why a lot of people turn towards communities like r/makeupaddiction, r/panporn and other smaller communities.

A last parting farewell to my Lash Volume Mania v. 2

Lash Volume Mania is really nice, and the best part for me is the convenience.
I've actually bought this formula twice, though I feel like I've needed a change and I've replaced this one with the Brownish Mascara from Visee and the Canmake lash frame.

Regarding the actual mascara formula: it isn't too mind blowing, it feels relatively okay, has decent payoff with volume but despite curling my lashes will always relax the curl a bit too much.
It does, however, never smudge or budge from the oil on your face because it reacts to water only, so basically, if you're sick of oily mascara smudges around your eyes, this will never let you down.

Pigmentation: A standard black for this one.

Packaging: Could be improved slightly, I'd prefer a more compact tube! Other than that, simple and minimalist, which is nice.

Wear time: If you're not too concerned about holding up a curl, this really does not move unless you're going to be dunking your eyes in warm water.

Formula: If you prefer a mascara that will change your lashes from 0 - 100, this may not be the best mascara for you. The volume on this mascara is slightly better than normal non volume one, but it's more of a complimentary coating on lashes you already have. It doesn't really hold the curl and it's not a life changing improvement on your existent lashes, but it will not smudge at all like a lot of better formula mascaras (Heroine Make, Majolica Majorca, Make Up Forever, Lancome).
Despite all this, I find this one of the best and most convenient formulas I own - worth using again and again!

Price: compared to standard American drug store mascaras, this is a little more expensive in terms of price, and I think Canmake's Lash Frame is probably a little more affordable. However, if you do prefer the hot water removal method like I do, there's not much else I've found that's similar to this formula so a little margin of $20HKD isn't too extravagant for me.

This second tube of Lash Volume Mania I got from a SaSa, and unfortunately the rubber stopper has slight problems which lead to it drying out earlier than it usually does. My original tube lasted me about two years, this one only held up for one, and by six months the formula really started giving out - more of a problem with the packaging than the formula though!

You can get this from any Japanese pharmacy or SaSa that sells Visee, and online from Rakuten! It retails for about ¥1200 JYP (plus tax) or around $99 HKD from Sasa.

A little note:
As mascaras are the first to reach their shelf life, their expectancy is usually 3-6 months so I'm not surprised at all! For that reason, I pretty much opt for smaller, mini or trial sized mascaras now.

There is a trend lately that mascara sales actually have been dropping due to the popularity of false lashes/falsies and it's pretty much definitely the case for my special occasion makeup, or even for everyday use sometimes, which leads to me preferring easy to remove mascaras. (Also: not enough mascara in the world is going to give you the mascara advertisement lashes - which, can someone explain why they're always close ups of clearly, fake lashes but are somehow advertised as the effectiveness of mascara? )

Typically, mascara actually tends to be pretty abrasive, especially when you want it to last on your eyes but also be easy enough to take off at the end of the day- and aren't great for your eyelashes in comparison to a bit of glue and some fake hair stuck on your eyelids.

While I prefer water based mascaras/ones that are easily removed with hot water, this is mainly because I am very lazy with removing my makeup, and in this case, just a lot less hassle in general. As I often find myself travelling without makeup remover, and not wanting to waste makeup remover wipes, I often prefer makeup that comes off with standard warm water and a bit of soap if absolutely necessary. In this case, I am definitely in favor of this despite it's probably more lackluster performance in holding curl and looking like a very expensive mascara.
