MoteLiner by FlowFushi Review

MoteLiner by FlowFushi is honestly the best and most long wearing eyeliner I can ever recommend on this blog; so if you want something that lasts all day and night, look no further than this.

About the eyeliner

This eyeliner retails for around ¥ 1700 JPY and $20 USD depending where you buy this from.

I bought this around two years ago, and it has lasted me basically through everything that I could throw at it, and has a gorgeous and sleek packaging to boot. It is a little heavier than most eyeliners mostly because of the metal packaging.

The claims for this eyeliner:

This is one of the most famous liquid eyeliner that made of the traditional Japanese Kumano (熊野) brush, high quality, durable, and professional for makeup. High resistance to tears, sweat, and sebum, while still easy to be removed by lukewarm water, or eye makeup remover in some cases. Made use of non-dye colorant, that ensure a vivid color expression and continuous line drawing. It also contain unique skincare ingredients for nourishment.

You can view the product details (but in Japanese) here!

The eyeliner brush tip was created by brush experts, and thus the brush tip works both to create bold lines and thin precise lines with the same amount of pigmentation. The brush tip is also very soft, so it won't stab your eye or anything (as some eyeliners often do.)

MoteLiner also comes in a range of colors, the typical black, black brown, brown, blue and red. I bought mine in Brown Black.

If you're interested in different colors with the same/slightly upgraded design of the pen, check out Uzu by FlowFushi, which sells their "Eye Opening Liner" in more colors, such as grey, khaki, navy, purple, light blue, pink, yellow and white. The formula is not the same, but the UZU formula is vegan, cruelty free and patch tested on sensitive skin as well. If you to see that review, click here

Performance:

Wear time: This eyeliner lasts through everything you throw at it. It is water and sweat and oil resistant, and does not smudge at all. I have worn this on a hot summer day experienced no smudging or transfer for up to 8 hours, but disintegrate a little after the 8 hour mark. I've worn this for up to 12 hours and had no issues with the general shape being smudged at all. 10/10.
Precision: The brush tip is one of the stand out points with this liner. As it has been made by brush makers, the ease of application is incredibly easy so you can build up a thick line and thin it out relatively easily. You can use this close to the lashline with no irritation at all, and it's very comfortable to use.
While it is not the thinnest eyeliner (I prefer DUP for thin lines), it gives you a variety of applications and you can do both thick and thin liners with ease.

Pigmentation: I can promise one swipe coverage, you don't really need to layer it at all. It also layers well, so it doesn't move the base layer of product.

Price: a little pricier but it works incredibly well for the slightly higher price you pay.

My only complaint with this eyeliner is because it is quick drying and long lasting, it dries out a little quicker than other eyeliner formulas and becomes a little hard to use. The eyeliner started to dry out after a year and a half, and became difficult with fine lines, but still managed to give thicker lines. I imagine you might be able to combat this by cleaning out the brush bristles, but I have not tried this.

The ingredients in this eyeliner are:

Water, Acrylates/Ethylhexyl Acrylate Copolymer, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, PVP, Diethylhexyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate, Aminomethyl Propanol, Garnet Powder, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Simethicone, Sorbitan Palmitate, Sorbitan Laurate, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides, Sorbitan Trioleate, Sucrose Palmitate, Black 2.

Conclusion
I think this is one of the best liner on the market, especially for anyone who has heavily hooded/creased eyes or monolids. If you constantly have trouble dealing with transferral or smudging, this may be the eyeliner you've been looking for.
As it works well through a good cry at the cinema, a hot and humid day of trekking around amusement parks, a guilty rub at your eyes, I reckon this is honestly the best, longest lasting and comfortable eyeliner formula I've tried - if anything, sometimes I opt against wearing it because it's so budge and smudge proof that it takes longer to remove it than to apply.

Having tried a bunch of eyeliners over my 10 years of looking - I have yet to find a better one than this.
