Stereoplasm: Sagittarius - Written in the Stars Review

Next up on Stereoplasm's Written in the Stars collection is Sagittarius! This collection is part of their big horoscope project, and you can find the reviews for Capricorn here

Same as the previous batch, there are various elements infused into each scent with different intended properties. Each scent is made to correspond to a different aspect of the star sign (which I believe was the sun, moon and rising/ascendant).

These come in two sizes, 1.8ml ($8CAD)and 7.5ml ($26.5CAD) bottles - and the little elements are also tucked into the tiny 1.8ml bottles! You can purchase these here, and you can also mix and match a 3 piece set from the collection in 7.5ml bottles for $75 CAD (which breaks down to $25 CAD for each bottle - and you can choose from the whole horoscope collection.

With this collection - I also did notice the increasing longevity and projection with the new concentrations. Even when I was just uncapping the bottles, I could still smell the scent without having applied it (especially with Scrumptious). Starry-Eyed lasted around 5-6 hours on my skin, with medium throw and projection, and the wear time for Spirited was similar with low projection. I found Scrumptious the most concentrated out of the scents, lasting around 7-8 hours on my skin with medium projection, and the more you apply for this scent, the longer the wear time (which isn't the case for all scents.)

As always, a heartfelt and grateful thank to Meaghan and Kacy at Stereoplasm for sending these press samples to me!

Starry-Eyed Sagittarius - Hiking up a mountain, the wind kisses your face. The sun shines on your skin. Inhale. Smell the fresh mountain air, note the hints of beragmot, lemon, linden blossom and cedarwood. Breathe away your worries.

This scent opens with pressed starchy cotton, lemon and bergamot scented laundry liquid seeping into the wooden chairs. While the linden blossom's clean soapiness continues to hang around, the bergamot's citrus sharpness and the sweet lemon peek out a little bit after dry down, the cedarwood just lurks underneath to give it some depth.
Overall, this scent has a lovely fresh laundry feeling to it - and while it leans a little too much to straight laundry powder on my skin, I really like how squeaky clean this smells. People who like laundry adjacent scents will probably like this one! This also reminds me a little bit of Wasp (NCD), with its clean, green profile.

Inside the bottle is a huge spring of juniper for cleaning and grounding, and a few chunks of sodalite to enhance self-awareness, emotional balance, self acceptance and self trust.

Perfect for: Kiki's delivery service. With the soft press of cotton smocks, greased cedarwood broomsticks and the flutter of an emerald green forest below you, as the cool breeze touches your face and whips through your hair.

Scrumptious Sagittarius - A delicious gingerbread cookie, baked with scintillating spoonfuls of cinnamon, nutmeg and molasses, paired with a refreshing bowl of ripe blueberries.

Bursting out with a sweet bite of spiced gingerbread, the sweet sharpness of grated candied ginger, the crunch of ginger snap cookies, a puff of cinnamon and nutmeg powder dusted on top, and finished off with a deliciously heady drizzle of maple syrup - this is pretty much a festive dessert sorted for Christmas. As the scent dries down, the ripe blueberry syrup comes forward a lot more, with a dense crushed syrupy sweetness, like blueberry jam. This reminds me a lot of The Nice List (Sixteen92) with the similar notes of maple syrup and gingerbread pancakes. However, the blueberry note hits you in the face with a Violet Beauregarde, so beware! The blueberry is very strong in this one.

In regards to the blueberry note, I did occasionally notice that the blueberry turned slightly medicinal on my skin, but it seemed to only happen once or twice. I did also notice that it seems to be negated when I apply a little more, because the cinnamon and the nutmeg is amplified when I do go a little heavy handed with the application. Overall, I really love this scent and it's absolutely my favorite out of the collection. I am a big fan of The Nice List, and I love that this has all the same elements but just with a huge helping of blueberry syrup and jam on top - and this is such a great foodie scent for any gourmand lover (it genuinely smells like eating pancakes!!)

Perfect for: Waking up on Christmas morning, stoking the fireplace and making gingerbread pancakes and gingerbread houses for breakfast, topped with blueberry jam, maple syrup and dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg. With a little cup of hot cocoa, you settle into your warm blankets and watch the morning sun stream in through the window as snowflakes float down from the sky, decorating the trees white.

Spirited Sagittarius - A base of luxurious green forest to ground your air, tonka bean, vanilla and smoke to stoke your fire, moss to soften your step, and a dash of whiskey to encourage you on your way.

Opening with a burst of sweet vanilla and crushed topiaries, this is definitely a green scent with a punch of a vanilla latte, not unlike Crumbly Capricorn's sweetness. After dry down, the sweetness is tempered with the underlying forest scent - it smells a lot like forest scented candles, with a refreshing citrus and freshly cut grass note, but there's an edge of mainstream cologne that creeps out, with a bitter and almost musky edge. Out of all of the scents, this is the one which feels most like the 'perfume-y' interpretation of the vision - but it wouldn't be out of place in an upscale bathroom diffuser, or from that man in the suit who strides past you and leaves a trail of expensive cologne.
On my skin, I don't really get any of the whiskey or the smoke, and the more I applied this scent, the less obvious the sweet vanilla and tonka bean were, and the more the bitter cologne started manifesting. I don't personally love this scent, but only because it seems like a scent that you might find in a department store, and I don't gravitate towards traditionally masc. scents.

Inside this bottle is vanilla bean and a few chunks of labradorite, to encourage transformation. I personally love labradorite, they're gorgeous as rings with the multicolored shifts - so I loved seeing that inside the bottle.

Perfect for: if you work in an office with a vertical garden and lots of pot plants. It's not quite travelling, but with the sun creeping through the glass windows, and a piping hot vanilla latte, it's a good enough start to the day. You're in charge. Go you.

While illustrating the Sagittarius scents, I really wanted to capture Kacy's lovely descriptions into each bottle. I wanted to create a Ghibli inspired backdrop of rolling hills for Starry-Eyed, with a little person just having a nap under a blue sky, nestled in long grass. For Spirited, I wanted to capture that feeling of looking through a forest from below, while sunshine streams through the cracks between the leaves and the branches. Lastly, I wanted to capture that feeling of a warm Christmas dinner for Scrumptious, to really let the gingerbread house speak for itself, but to also add a tiny little fireplace, a stocking and some festive decorations, just to really add to the atmosphere of festive sweetness! I personally love the little fireplace the most.
