Softymo Collagen Makeup Remover Sheet Review

As I've mentioned in my Softymo cold cream review, I'm a huge fan of the softymo/lachescha makeup removers. I don't often reach for makeup wipes as they're comparably less ecofriendly than removers that come in a tube and don't need an extra item (like a cotton wipe), but every so often, when travelling. it's a good option to have a makeup wipe when you're restricted with the liquids you can carry, or don't have a towel on hand.

To clarify, although Softymo and Lachesca and Kose are all part of the same brand, each product is different (with different ingredients!). So even if you see a Lachesca wipe which has both Kose and Softymo listed on the package, unless it also has the words Lachesca, it will be a regular Softymo product. Confusing? Yes. And it doesn't help that the packaging looks very similar. To be honest - I didn't purposely buy this one as I though it was the Lachesca refill cleansing wipe, but this one is the Softymo Collagen Makeup remover wipe. But here's the review since I did get it.

The product description:
Cosmetics wipes formulated with natural collagen natural cleansing the skin. Simply wipe gently to remove dirt and impurities without rinsing after. It is enriched with collagen to deliver that firm and soft touch.

Ingredients:
Water, BG, ethanol, DPG, mukuroji extract, water-soluble collagen, EDTA-2Na, PEG-3 cocamide, PEG-8, polysorbate 80, sucrose laurate, 2Na phosphate, sodium phosphate, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben

Compared to the Lachesca and Bifesta wipes, the size of this wipe is much smaller, so although there are 52 sheets, it's about 9cm x 17cm - the same width as the package but folded in two. For this reason, despite having 52 sheets, you might need two to make sure the whole face is clean. The thickness of this sheet is also a little thinner compared to the Lachesca.

In terms of the formula of the wipe, it's a nice formula. For me, although I can make one wipe work for my whole face if it's a light face of makeup, but definitely not with a heavier application. It gets the foundation off relatively easily but struggles a little with waterproof liner and a lot for waterproof mascara. While the wipe does leave your face feeling a little sticky, I usually cleanse my face immediately after, either with water or cleanser. I didn't get any major stinging with this wipe around the eyes either. I don't think I noticed any significant difference in regards to the collagen formula of this product.

On all accounts, this is not a bad wipe, especially compared to the Bifesta, which just seems to smear product across the face rather than off it, but compared to my trusty Lachesca wipes, this is still second place to me. Although this is slightly cheaper than the Lachesca, the performance is equally impacted, and you'll need to use more of these due to the size of the sheets. Please check the packaging if you are thinking of picking this up so you don't end up getting the wrong one.

Pricewise, this retails for around 300-400 JPY if you're buying within Japan. I picked mine up from Tsuruha Drug, but most Japanese retail stores carry this (Lachesca is often not stocked as frequently as Softymo or Bifesta, so also take care to check the name/labels on these).
