Sucreabeille are also going to be releasing a new addition to their Steel Roses: Self Aware Fairy Tale collection, so today I've got a review of Black Rose for those roses you might be getting for Valentines!

Black Rose - wild rose, rich dark chocolate, fresh vanilla bean, burnt sugar, whiskey, bourbon, an old library in a dusty castle, patchouli, a cold creamsicle on a hot day, really good bacon.

The amazing staff of Sucreabeille often write these amazing stories to go alongside their scents, like a little story that describes the general feeling of the scent. The story of Black Rose can be found here, and Snow White is the independent queen who appreciates a delicious plate of food, or an indulgent feast in her own castle. The notes are all a nod to her castle and the amazing feasts, and of course, what's a breakfast with some really tasty bacon?

Wet: Crushed green stems of a wild rose garden, the sweetness of rich chocolate powder and a sharp drizzle of burnt sugar and leather bound books The green tinge of rose, rich chocolate powder, and a good does of Byzantine (Sucreabeille) with its sharp burn sugar and leather bound books.

Dried down: The heart of the scent lies in the cut green stems of rose, but the bursts of burnt sugar bubble and burst to the surface of the scent, and the tannin from the leather reminds me a lot of Byzantine (Sucreabeille). The chocolate mostly fades away, but there's a slight peppery sharpness from the whiskey and bourbon, and a light vanilla sweetness. A touch of savoury rounds out the sweeter edges of this scent, thanks to the salt of the bacon, paired with the darker and earthier base notes of the patchouli.

Perfect for: Anyone who prefers a complex, not-quite gourmand. Despite seeming like a sugary affair upon application, the scent has a lot of hidden nuances underneath the cheery sweetness of its top notes.
