Summer Fridays: Hot Cocoa Lip Butter Balm

It seems that Summer Fridays regularly releases their LE Hot Cocoa scent lip butter balm as a holiday special - I picked one up last holiday season and seeing it roll around again reminded me to drop my review! So here it is!

Description: This silky, vegan balm melts into your skin to instantly soothe dryness, smooth rough patches and lock in long-lasting moisture. With nourishing shea and murumuru butters, hydrating sodium hyaluronate and shine-boosting plant waxes, it cushions and conditions for soft, plush, dewy lips all day long.

For me, this lip balm is fine. I really enjoyed the scent on this one, and I really like that is has a very faint warm brown tint as well, which was the original reason for purchasing it, but I can't say much else on it. The formula on this lip butter balm is far more like a gloss, and it has a slanted squeeze tube top for easy application, and I wear this like a gloss too - I often add it on top of a blotted lip tint. I do like that the formula is quite thick and a little sticky, so it doesn't slip and slide as often as some other formulas, and it can be very long lasting compared to some of my more balm-like lip balms. However, I'm not a big fan of gloss formulas generally, and this doesn't lock in the moisture as much as some other glosses I've tried before. For me, I like that it does cling a little, has a lovely scent and also is easy to apply and travel with, but I don't love that it's not quite as moisturizing as more of the traditional lip balms, and my biggest downside is that within a year, I already noticed a distinct change in the scent despite not having used it that often. I'm a little let down that it's spoiled this easily, and as a result, I probably won't be repurchasing and will be trying out another similar product, especially at the price point.
